ike parents, our neonatal team looks forward and works toward the day when the newborn can go home happy and healthy.
Our neonatologists will coordinate the baby’s care with your pediatrician, who will receive weekly updates about your newborn.
If parents haven’t found a pediatrician, our neonatologists will assist in selecting the right one. Babies should be seen by a pediatrician one or two days after they leave the hospital.
Parents are also advised about:
- Car seats, infants who are younger than 37 weeks will have to have a car seat in which they can sit without experiencing problems;
- Vaccines, such as HBV, Synagis and other immunizations;
- Hearing screens;
- Eye exams for retinopathy of prematurity, a common eye disease that can develop in premature infants under 30 weeks old; and
- Circumcision
